Contemporary Dance explores movement as a form of artistic expression. It combines influences from a variety of dance and movement techniques with the individual style of each teacher - it aims to achieve versatility in one´s own dancing. The optimization of diverse skills, for example perception, timing, personal awareness, musicality and use of energy builds the core of the classes. Then, choreographed sequences bring uniformity and allow one to focus on the precision of each movement. Contemporary dance is an opportunity to be challenged, inspired and find joy in the journey to understand our bodies as story-tellers.
Beginner A1: This course starts with a meditation to tune in to one’s own body. A transition to guided-improvisation raises awareness of the relationship with the floor, the space, the other dancers and the music. Choreographed sequences challenge one´s musicality, interpretation and precision. A dance background is not necessary but certainly of advantage.
Intermediate A2: This course starts with a meditation to tune in to one’s own body.
