Gesund Studieren - Depression Break (EN)
verantwortlich: Laura Maut

This workshop is intended for all those who sometimes feel lonely in their everyday student life and are looking for dialogue. The aim is to talk about these topics of life in specific units:

Workshop 1:

  • Introduction - Depression in students: exchange of experiences, clarification of organizational issues
  • Loneliness, belonging and love: dealing with isolation, group dynamics, the importance of relationships

Workshop 2:

  • Death, loss and grief: all about the challenges of interpersonal relationships
  • Helplessness, world-weariness and anger: dealing with social media, emotion regulation and self-efficacy

Workshop 3:

  • Overload, stress and exam anxiety: causes of burnout, strategies for strengthening resilience/coping
  • Conclusion - summary and buffer: discussion of unresolved issues, handout

The session commences with a mindfulness ritual, followed by the gathering of individual experiences related to the respective topic, leading to the development of a collective understanding. Subsequently, there will be a brief psychological input on the topic, and a collaborative brainstorming session on ideas and resources ensues. These insights can then be integrated into the students' daily lives. It's important to note that this is not a therapeutic program; hence, information about potential support resources is provided. Furthermore, a handout summarizing the workshop's content is distributed during a concluding hour, which focuses more on group interaction and discussion, serving as a catalyst for further reflection. Throughout the workshop, guidelines regarding netiquette and confidentiality agreements are addressed, as some topics discussed may be personal and sensitive.
