Anyone who enjoys exercising in the great outdoors, does not give up when the wind and fog blow in their face, and likes activitiesin a group will feel right at home on the cross-country skiing course offered by the Humboldt University of Berlin Sports Centre. The destination of the trip is the eastern Giant Mountains (Krkonoše) around the town of Pec pod Sněžkou, at the foot of the famous Sněžka mountain. What makes these mountains special is that below approximately 1,300 metres above sea level, they have the character of a low mountain range, while above this altitude they are characterised by alpine landscapes. This diversity is unique in Central Europe. The accommodation, the “Lesní bouda” (Forest Lodge), is located at an altitude of 1,100 metres in the middle of the national park, 3 km from the nearest town, Pec pod Sněžkou. In summer, it also serves as an organic farm and is well known for its excellent cuisine.
Lesní bouda mainly offers shared rooms and only a very limited number of twin rooms. Depending on availability, twin rooms can be booked on site for an additional charge of €15 per person. The accommodation also has a cosy common room and an outdoor pool with warm water, which is kept open even in winter. Groomed cross-country ski trails as well as unprepared paths start directly outside the accommodation. The terrain offers cross-country skiing opportunities for both beginners and advanced skiers. Ski instruction takes place in groups according to different ability levels. Day tours on skis are organised, with technique training incorporated into the tours. In addition, activities such as ski gymnastics and various games (e.g. a snowball biathlon) are carried out together with all groups.
This offering is provided in cooperation with the University Sports Center of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin). The participation and cancellation policies of HU Berlin also apply
